Fire Guts Kotangora House In Lagos (PHOTOS)

The famous Mamman Kotangora House situated on Marina, Lagos Island has been reportedly gutted by fire.
Mamman Kotangora House
Channels Television reports that high building houses corporate entities, including the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) and the Federal Mortgage Bank
.
It was gathered from eyewitnesses that the fire started-off around the generator house of the building this morning.
It is believed that properties worth millions of naira might have been gutted by the inferno but officials of the Lagos Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency are in combined effort to put out the ravaging fire.
Newsbreak also reports that firemen had arrived at the scene, adding that the building also housed Diamond Bank Limited, a law firm, F.O Fagboungbe and Co, MBL Financial Services Limited, among others.
Western Post reports that Maman Katangora House is a building of about 14 storeys with a lot of offices and businesses.
It explained that the building is located near the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in the CMS area of Lagos state.
Meanwhile, evacuation is currently ongoing following the arrival of fire fighters at the scene.
According to Newswire, the raging inferno has already gutted 7 floors of the building including that of Federal Mortgage Bank building at Mamman Kontagora house, located in Broad Street, Lagos.
Eyewitness in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity suspected foul play saying: “It is strange that the fire affects the Mortgage building.”
The witness doubts that it was a coincidence that the fire burnt almost all the official documents in the bank.
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) was established in 1956, known then as the Nigerian Building Society (NBS), a joint venture of the Commonwealth Development Corporation and the Federal and Eastern Governments of Nigeria.
But, after the introduction of the Indigenisation Policy, the Federal Government, by Indigenisation Act 1973, undertook 100 percent ownership acquisition of the NBS and renamed it the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).
In a related development, it is alleged that since General Muhammadu Buhari has eected President, most Ministries and Federal agencies being governed by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the past 16 years have started writing down their hand over notes.
The affected FMBN is also expected to submit a handover of all its transactions to the incoming government, so it is anticipated that the fire outbreak is not an attempt to cover up some facts.
Many corrupt officials are scared of Buhari’s emergence because he’s known for sending corrupt officials to Jail following his track record.
When a security personal at the building was asked if classified documents were gutted by the inferno, he said: “press men for now i cannot say anything, you can see fire service trying to put the fire out and of course documents should be affected with the magnitude of the fire.”
