BOKO HARAM militants are advancing towards a town in the north-east of the country

Reports from Nigeria say suspected Boko Haram militants are advancing towards a town in the north-east of the country, despite a recently announced ceasefire. Mubi, near the border with Cameroon, is the second largest town in Adamawa state.

One resident told the BBC that local people were now fleeing Mubi. Earlier the militants were reported to have captured the nearby town of Uba. Earlier this month the Nigerian government announced a ceasefire agreement with Boko Haram that was supposed to lead to the release of more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls.
